The stave is made up of 5 horizontal lines and 4 spaces. Musical notes and symbols are written on the lines and in the spaces.

The treble clef symbol tells you that the second line from the bottom (the line that the symbol curls around) is "SOL".

In music theory, the beats are grouped into bars (British English) or measures (American English). Each bar has the same amount of beats. 

Bar line is vertical bar that separates each measure on a stave.

A double bar line are two vertical lines used to separate different music sections or to mark the end of a piece of music.
